Osmo

Osmo is a toy company blending emerging tech and hands-on play to create the next wave of games for kids. Working with Cinco Design, I helped create two broadcast spots for their products that would rocket them to the top of the 2018 Holiday Season.

Project Snapshot

One of the first things that jumped out to us was that the brand’s past video efforts were mainly using its educational side to get parent approval. While getting the thumbs up from Mom and Dad is important, we knew getting kids excited about it was key to success. To do that, we needed to get inside their sugar-fueled, giddy, imaginative heads and start thinking like them.

Insight:

Kids are wowed by the power of modern technology, but modern technology isn’t made in a way that benefits kids.

Brand Advantage:

Osmo’s style of play is as educational as it is fun, digital as it is physical, and appealing to kids as it is to parents.

Strategy:

Show how the fun, digital magic of Osmo changes kids’ brains for the better.

Execution & Results

With the help of awesome actors, custom music, and the power of special effects, we showed the interactions where digital and physical worlds intertwined in larger than life ways that looked as magical as they felt. Our spots not only tested high in recall and ranked as a preferred toy for Christmas — it helped sell out their entire 2018 inventory. It was indeed a happy holiday — both for kids and the Osmo team.
